300 GSM Hoodie Fabric Guide: What Weight Can and Cannot Tell You

Detail of Chaze Fit cotton brushed-fleece hoodie pocket

At a glance: A 300 GSM hoodie uses fabric weighing 300 grams per square metre. That helps you compare fabric weight, but it does not give you a temperature rating. Read it alongside the fibre, inside finish, cut and layers you plan to wear.

When two product listings show the same GSM, it is tempting to assume the garments will feel and behave alike. That shortcut misses the other specifications that shape a hoodie: fibre content, surface treatment, construction, fit and design. Reading each detail together helps you compare the actual clothing rather than one number.

CHAZE FIT · PRACTICAL GUIDE

GSM is one part of a hoodie specification

Step 1

Weight

GSM describes fabric mass per unit area.

Step 2

Composition

Check the stated fibres and blend.

Step 3

Construction

Look at knit, lining and finish details.

Step 4

Use

Assess layering and conditions; GSM is not a temperature rating.

What GSM tells you

GSM means grams per square metre. It expresses the mass of a given area of fabric. It is useful when comparing fabric weight within a product category, but it does not by itself specify thickness at every point, warmth in a particular climate, drying time, durability or exercise performance.

Chaze Fit lists the classic and pastel hoodies as 300 GSM, 100% cotton brushed fleece in a regular fit. The acid-wash oversized hoodie is also listed at 300 GSM and 100% cotton, but it has a different cut and finish. That is why you should compare the product descriptions and size charts as well as the headline fabric weight.

Read weight alongside construction

“Cotton” describes fibre content; “brushed fleece” describes the listed surface construction of the classic and pastel models. The acid-wash listing highlights its cotton fabric, oversized silhouette and washed finish. These terms answer different questions. Fibre content tells you what material the product page lists. Surface and cut describe other parts of the garment. GSM gives a weight specification.

Use the full specification to compare products. If you want a regular fit, the classic and pastel hoodies share that intended silhouette. If you want dropped shoulders and extended sleeves, the acid-wash model is the listing that describes those details. Similar GSM does not cancel out those differences.

Why 300 GSM is not a temperature promise

Comfort depends on more than fabric weight: the weather, wind, your activity, the layers underneath and how warm you personally feel all play a part. A number on a listing does not establish a guaranteed temperature range. It also does not certify a hoodie for rain, wind protection or technical training.

For a commute, you might want a removable layer over a tee. For extended training, a cotton hoodie may feel like the wrong garment once activity raises your body heat. Decide where the hoodie fits into your day, and use a separate technical top when moisture management during exercise is the priority.

Compare fabric weight, fibre and finish

  • Fibre: check whether the product listing identifies cotton or a blend.
  • Surface: look for brushed fleece where that construction is stated.
  • Fit: identify regular or oversized styling before comparing sizes.
  • Details: compare ribbed cuffs and hem, hood shape and finish.
  • Care: use the instructions for the exact garment.

Keep the checklist tied to the listing. Do not infer a fabric property from the product name, or treat an unsupplied test result as a specification. When a feature matters to your decision and is not stated, seek confirmation before purchase.

Compare Chaze Fit’s hoodie options

Start with the regular-fit unisex hoodie for the listed 300 GSM cotton brushed fleece construction. Consider the pastel version if its colour options suit your wardrobe, or the acid-wash oversized version if its roomier shape and washed finish are what you want.

For the silhouette decision, see how regular and oversized hoodie fits differ. For an overview of the three options, use the Chaze Fit hoodie buying guide.

Choose for the way you will wear it

Fabric weight is a useful point of comparison when you read it accurately and keep its limits in mind. Use the listed GSM with the fibre, surface, fit, care requirements and intended routine. Then confirm the selected size and availability on the product page.

Explore the listed options: classic cotton-fleece option, lighter-colour option, and oversized washed-cotton option.

Apply the fabric details to your routine

Use regional winter and travel examples for cotton hoodies to turn the specification into an outfit decision. After purchase, care instructions for brushed fleece and washed cotton explain how to plan washing and drying around the garment label.
